Conditions of Entry


ENTRY DETAILS

 

The 9th World Masters Squash Championships will be held under the auspices of the World Squash Federation

  • The Championships will be conducted under the WSF World Championship Regulations
  • The Championships are  open to players over 35 years of age, in the following age categories for both Men and Women.

    35 – 39 years
    40 – 44 years
    45 – 49 years
    50 – 54 years
    55 – 59 years
    60 – 64 years
    65 – 69 years

    70 – 74 years

    75 + years

  • Entrants must have reached their minimum applicable age by the first day of the championships ie 20th October 2008. Verification of all entrants’ date of birth will by required by passports or other similar identity document upon arrival.
  • Entries are to be submitted via the Online registration section of the world masters squash website, and must be accompanied by the relevant fees.  Payment of entry Fees can be made with MasterCard or Visa.

 

Should you choose to enter online do not send in a manual entry form as this will cause a duplication of entries.

  • When your entry is processed you will be sent an eticket – this is confirmation that your entry has been received. It is your responsibility to check the details are correct. The eticket is required to be presented at registration

  • For entrants unable to complete the online registration , please download the registration forms from the website www.worldmasterssquash.com  and follow the relevant instructions. .
  • The closing date for entries and payment of  fees is Sunday 7th September 2008
  • Entrants may only enter in one event . The championships will be played between 20 – 25th October 2008, and all players must commit themselves to compete for the full duration of the championships.
  • No prize money is offered
  • Entrants must complete the player profile section of the entry form so as to assist with the seeding.
  • Seeding will be undertaken by the WSF seeding committee.
  • Each individual event must have a minimum of three (3) countries participating and a minimum draw size of eight (8) for it to be considered a World Championship.
Refund Policy
  • Entry Fees are non-refundable after Sunday 7th  September 2008.  Prior to this date withdrawals’ can be made, and  NZ$20 of the entry fee will be retained to cover administration and handling costs.
  • Entries can only be cancelled if notice is received in writing, prior  to 5pm Sunday 7th  September 2008. Letters of cancellation should be addressed to Entry Cancellations – World masters Squash Championships,  8 Takaro Avenue, Sockburn,  Christchurch, New Zealand or email  registrations@worldmasterssquash.com

Venue and Match Control


Matches will be played at a number of venues in Christchurch. The organisers reserve the right to use other approved venues should the need arise.

  • All matches are played under The World Squash Federation “The Rules of Squash”
  • In events with 16 or more entrants, there will be the usual main knockout draw – Plate , Consolation Plate, Classic Plate etc. Lower numbers in a grade will more likely be played in pools. Scheduling of matches will be done in such a manner to ensure that all players have a minimum of three (3) matches. To avoid difficulties over scheduling matches, however, there could be exceptions where matches are defaulted for any reason. These will be counted as matches played.
  • Events may be combined if there are insufficient entries in a particular plate category.
  • The championship director reserves the right to disqualify any competitor who fails to be ready for play at the allocated time or amended time in conjunction with the tournament draw procedures. A match may be awarded to a player whose opponent fails to be present on court within ten (10) minutes of the advertised start time of the match.
  • A free shuttle for the players for the duration of the championship will operate throughout the day between the main playing venues. Guests will be required  to pay a fee of NZD30 at registration

Players responsibilities:

  • The championships will operate under the rules and regulations of the WSF
  • All players must register with the Control Centre/Court Steward at the venue, at least 30minutes prior to their scheduled match times
  • Competitors clothing and attire will be in accordance with the WSF  World Championship  Regulations, Section 1, Appendix ‘F’ (www.worldsquash.org) and the WSF technical Director will have the final word in any decision on acceptability
  • Competitors may be required to referee or mark designated matches during the championships to supplement the arranged qualified referees. Entrants should make any refereeing qualifications known on the entry form , within the player profile section
  • All competitors will be expected to fulfil their commitment to the championships and should play in all relevant plate events
  • All players enter at their own risk. Squash New Zealand, Squash Canterbury , WSF or the Championships committee do not insure the participants or nor  accept any liability for injury or loss arising from participation. Official Match Ball


All matches will be played with the approved WSF match ball.

Early Bird payments are being offered until 29 February 2008  NZ$ 105.00

 

Thereafter the full championship entry fee of NZ$120.00 is payable.

Payments

 

Conversions from other currencies to the NZ$ will be carried out automatically, and payment must be made in full, net of all bank charges.

 

Receipt of Entries

 

All entries received by the Championships Office, will be processed and confirmed only after payment has been made in full. 

 

Further information regarding the championships and the draw will be available to entrants on the website of the Championships. The championships office cannot accept responsibility for entries lost in the post, or sent by fax.

Food

 

Hot and cold food will be available at the main venues for players and their guests at their own expense. There are also restaurants in close proximity to most venues and places of accommodation, and recommendations will be made available in the player’s handbook.

 

Player I.D.


ID cards will be issued at registration and must  be worn for the duration of the Championships

 

Insurance and RISK

 

Player’s and all persons in attendance shall take all precautions to prevent damage or injury to themselves and any other person and property. No claims what so ever will be recognised or entertained in respect of any injury or damage sustained by any player or person throughout the duration of the championships.

 

No claims will be entertained in respect of unforeseen Partial or total cancellation of the event, nor will any refunds be entertained. The Championships program is subject to change without notice.

 

Declaration


I agree to abide by the rules and regulations governing the championships and declare that I am aware of the doping regulations and procedures as set out in  section E and Appendix C of the WSF World championships regulations (refer www.worldsquash.org)

 

I accept that I may be drug tested under these regulations at any stage of the championships and subjected to the penalties set out in the World Championship regulations, if the test(s) are positive.

 

I understand this declaration also covers plate events as applicable to these championships.

 

As a player or referee I accept all risks incidental to play and accept that I have no legal claim to any remedy for injuries received during or as a result of any game, other than injuries caused by foul play or unfair acts by others amounting to negligence.

I have noted the registration and cancellation details for the championships , as well as the clauses above relating to insurance, and hereby agree to be bound by these provisions.
